Selecting the Best Dog Shampoo
It may seem that giving a dog a bath is an easy thing to do, actually however there are a few tricks that will help out quite a bit. To begin with, make sure you use a quality _dog shampoo_.
You see, most pet shampoos on the market are mass produced and there formulation is based on human shampoos. Since dogs and humans have different ph levels, the result is damage to the skin. This can include an itchy dog, hot spots, dermatitis, dogs dandruff, and even hot spots. So while these products you can buy at the large pet stores may have good labeling and marketing, they are a bad choice. The main factor is again because dog’s fur, skin and hair have different ph-levels than we do and a shampoo that does not match their ph-levels will cause their skin to dry out.
So be sure to select _shampoos_ that are made by a company that has treated pets for a while and one that formulates products just for them. Also, look for a shampoo that contains aloe-vera and oatmeal. Both of these will help create a great shine, and provide plenty of moisturizing agents to keep your animal looking great!
Also when giving your dogs a bath make sure to use warm water and never us a hard spray that may hurt them. A luke warm dog bath, with a normal water flow will work great. Always be sure to get all of the shampoo removed from the hair as well. If not, you may notice scratching, itching, and even flaking on the fur or hair.
Lastly, if it is cold outside be sure to thoroughly dry the hair before you let them run outside. Use a towel to dry them off, or if they don’t mind you can use a blow dryer on a low heat to dry them off. Just as us, pets are susceptible to colds and poor health. In fact when a dog develops a cold, it can lead to many more complications that we typically do not encounter.
Remember, the secret is to use a high quality dog shampoo, and then rinse of all of the suds completely. We hoped that this blog was beneficial and helps keep your pets looking good and feeling healthy.
